We all need to elevate our mindset and focus on how we get more from our current resources and efforts during these challenging economic times. I think we need to start asking yourself and others better questions. Consider asking yourself, “How can I get greater results from every action I take, every expenditure I make, every effort I expend, every relationship i have?” I challenge you to avoid the status quo like a deadly virus. You must embrace fully the philosophies that, “good enough never is” and “I can always do better.”
I have learned that optimization (also known as leverage) is a mindset of maximizing you results while simultaneously minimizing the amount of time, effort, risk, money and energy you expend. It’s all about getting greater balance while at the same time realizing more productivity, better performance, profitability and payback from your ideas, assets, knowledge, systems, processes, practices, people and opportunities. I have learned that it is essential to overlook nothing; leverage opportunities are everywhere.
When you optimize, you are using your mind and resources in new and better ways. It’s about using your creative intelligence as an incredible force to achieve the goals and successes you have set for yourself. Optimization is about freeing yourself from limiting beliefs and the “we’ve always done it this way” attitudes that become burdens for us. To optimize is to search for opportunities in and around your environment where the application of focus or force will yield substantially multiplied results.
Just as a tire jack can lift the tremendous weight of a car for a tire change, so too can the strategy of optimization help you significantly lift you to achieve what you set out to do. Use leverage so you can begin to elevate and optimize your results.
To master the art of optimization, you need to adopt an opportunity mindset. To leave the status quo behind, you need to continually ask the following questions:
- What is the best and highest use of our time, talent and treasures?
- What resources am I underutilizing?
- How can I maximize my returns/output and minimize my input?
- How can I work smarter, not harder and play more often?
- Which strategies will give me super-sized results?
- Where and how am I under-performing?
- What past or current relationships could I more fully leverage for mutual benefit?
- How can I get better every day in every way
I challenge you to expand your mind so your potential and opportunities will expand exponentially. Think optimization, not status quo.
As always I welcome your comments, questions. Please let me know what you are thinking.
