“Where there is no vision, the people perish” Proverbs 29:18a KJV
Consider implementing this simple GREEN vision acronym as the foundation on which to build success and balance both at work and at home.
G – Gratitude. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Be thankful for the gifts you have been given and be willing to share with those who are a blessing in your life. Why not take a few minutes each day or week to reflect on the blessings you have been granted. Follow that reflection up by thanking those who have had apart in making those blessings, successes and achievements in your life a reality. Remember Dorothy was grateful that she and Toto were ok, lost yep, but ok.
R – Reject any “stinking thinking.” My granny always said you are what you think you are. If you focus on the negative and short end of the stick guess what end you will most likely be holding. Stop the negativity, control your thoughts and be positive.
E – Exit in a grand fashion. When you leave the office, the meeting, your home or even the restaurant wear a smile, carry it with a focused direction and positive attitude. When you do, your credibility is enhanced and your confidence will increase.
E – Engage your heart. Be authentic and genuine in all your encounters and commitments. To do less is failing to be fully committed to people or process. Be totally committed to your vision, the journey and meeting the challenges that lie in front of you. When you fully engage your heart and soul in your vision you will be compelled to do whatever it takes to achieve it.
N – Never say never. Don’t stop believing. Winston Churchill once said, “Never, never, never give up!” Maintain and find ways to support and embrace a “can do” attitude. When you do this, just about any challenge can and will be met. You won’t need special powers to find a solution to the dilemmas that you face.
“I am an optimist. It does not seem too much use being anything else.” Winston Churchill at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet London, November 1954
